Chickenwing all stars est un collectif reggae dub du South London dans lequel on retrouve notamment l’un des percussionistes du Spasm band d’Anthony Joseph, Craig Tamlin, et le saxophoniste des Heliocentrics ou de Speech Debelle et jeune star du jazz angalis, Shabaka Hutchings.
Sous l’influence conjointe du reggae roots et du spiritual jazz, ce groupe signe pour sa première sortie une reprise du classique de Gary Bartz ‘Celestial Blues’ dans des versions instrumentales qui évoquent tout à la fois un Mystic Revelation of Rastafari ou Cedric ’im’ Brooks et l’esprit conscient du jazz indépendant US des années 70 des labels Black Jazz ou Strata East …
